“SELF-CARE IS GIVING THE WORLD THE BEST OF YOU, INSTEAD OF WHAT’S LEFT OF YOU!”
I really thought long and hard about this saying. It really made me think. Aren’t we pulled in so many directions sometimes, it is very hard to give anything the full attention it really deserves. And finding time for yourself amongst all the crazy, can even be harder. I know my brain is wired that everything needs to be completely done, before I spend time on me. Do you ever do that? I feel as if I am spoiled, if I put myself before anyone else’s needs, or the list that still needs to be completed. The problem I run into is, everyone else’s needs, and those chores on that list NEVER come to an end. They just keep on, keeping on. I am sure this is why we typically have a hard time settling down at night, and shutting the brain down. Of course we always have to be planning our next move. Then before you know it the hours, days and nights get away from us and, well… we never seem to check anything off our “ME” list.
Of course GOD and prayer should always come first in our daily plans. Have you ever gotten half way through your day and realized you forgot to include God? I get so frustrated at myself every time I realize I’ve forgotten Him. I just bet, if I remember to include HIM first thing every morning, much more of my day, will fall right into place.
If we could only get this figured out! Wouldn’t life be much easier, happier, more fulfilling, etc.
How do we find a perfect balance between our prayer lives, other people, and their needs, our everyday chore list, and our “Me” time without all the guilt. So, how do we get there, is the magic question? I wish I knew I am still trying to figure that out myself
Should we make a daily schedule? Allow so much time for prayer, so much time for our jobs, so much time for others in need, and of course our everyday chores, and then finally ME. Planning this schedule out and always allowing a certain allotted time for each of these will be tough to stick to, but we have to start somewhere right? The key then, will be when we call it a day, be happy with the choices we made that day, and remember tomorrow is a new day. We can pick up where we left off, and it is OKAY if we didn’t complete our chore list. It is OKAY if someone’s needs did not quite get met. Everyone will survive, and we may even survive a bit longer.
I think these blogs are me thinking out loud, those things I need the most work on. It is good for me to process some of these topics on paper, and of course with all of you. I can be my own worst enemy sometimes. A work in progress they call it!!
We would love any suggestions on how you have come to learn how to balance out all the things in your daily lives, and still save a bit of time for GOD &YOU?
